20 years' teaching English, literature, writing, reading; 7-12 grade in MO, Nevada, and overseas (2 years in England); Also taught AP course and freshman composition at community college Tutoring several students one-on-one outside of school As I am no longer in a public school classroom, I'd like to continue using that knowledge and skill as well as have regular contact with students who still need my guidance and help. I have a variety of methods of helping students, taking both their skill levels and their learning styles into account. I am also quick at developing rapport and putting others at ease. Diagnosing writing issues students may have is another of my strengths, and time is something most of us have little of these days. I have taught and lived in England--in two distinctly different areas and environments--and that is one of those things that has made me flexible and quick to adapt to changes, whether it is requirements of or approaches to assignments, reading, writing, etc. I have also worked with a huge range of populations--inner-city, urban, suburban, middle/high income, low-income, minority, non-English-speaking. I am not intimidated by any deficiency or challenge, and I'll work tirelessly to find the best way to help each student.

I'm close to my family in Columbia, having recently moved back to be near them. I love to travel, and discover new places, people, traditions, history, and of course, food. I am comfortable with children of all ages, and this includes adults!
