Experience
I am an undergraduate at Princeton University studying Ecology and Environmental Biology. I took a gap year after high school to live in Peru for a year to attain Spanish fluency and perform service work. During that year, I partnered with several other volunteers to create a summer school program to teach English, math and communications to elementary school students from marginalized rural communities. In addition to summer school, throughout the year I taught English as a second language to local Peruvians - elementary school students and adults alike. As a child of immigrants, I have always been involved in the language scene, helping my parents with English as the native speaker in the family from a young age. After a year in South America, I have developed a passion for Spanish, making that and ESL two subjects I am enthused about tutoring. Additionally, I'm drawn to standardized test preparation to serve as a mentor to high school students through that stressful process on top of improving their scores. My time in a developing country drove home the power and importance of education; it is a concept that I aim to promote in my tutoring. Outside of academics, I enjoy reading and cooking and lead an active lifestyle that includes cycling, running and playing ultimate Frisbee.
